Hope Pearl

HOPE PEARL

In 19th Century London, Henry Philip Hope brought together a collection of precious gems, among which was the Hope Pearl.

Henry Philip Hope's precious gem collection was the largest during the time; though, today, is still considered one of the largest in the world.

The Hope Pearl is an irregular pear-shape pearl, weighing 450 carats. The pearl measures 2 inches long and 4.5 inches in diameter. On one end of the pearl, its color is white while the opposite end exhibits more of a bronze or green tint.

The Hope Pearl is now capped with a crown at one end, ornamented with rubies, diamonds and emeralds and is currently on display in London at the Natural History Museum.
