Grunes Gewolbe Pearls

GRUNES GEWOLBE PEARLS

A tale of German royal treasures.

In Zwinger Palace, located in Dresden, Germany, lies a collection of baroque pearls, part of the treasures of the royal family of Saxony. These pearls are stored in the Grunes Gewolbe, or 'Green Vault.' Many of these pearls date back to the 18th Century.

Among the treasures in Grunes Gewolbe are statue figurines lavishly decorated with pearls and other precious gems. One of these such treasures is a dwarf statue with a body comprised of a single baroque pearl and green enamel decorated with diamonds.

Many of these treasures are heavily ornamented with pearls and other gems and contain a large amount of detail. The practice of incorporating baroque pearls into royal treasures was very popular during the time the pieces were crafted.
