Cleopatra, the last Queen of Egypt, made a bet with Marc Antony that she could spend a large sum of money on just one meal. Cleopatra always wore two pearl earrings that, at the time, were described as the largest pearls in history.
It is said that when Cleopatra ordered the meal to come out, only a cup of vinegar and one of her pearls appeared. She dissolved the pearl and drank it.
It was said the pearl was worth 10 million sesterces.
