Tarantula Brooch

Tarantula Brooch

The Tarantula Brooch consists of gold, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and an orange-red horse conch pearl.  This 27 mm long pearl creates the head of the tarantula and the legs consist of gold and diamonds.

A Horse Conch is a snail that originates in the southeastern United States and northeastern Mexico.  They are extremely common in Florida and has become Florida’s state shell.

The designer, Stefan Hemmerle from Munich, Germany, designed this brooch as a shoulder brooch so that it actually gave off the image of a tarantula crawling on a shirt.
