Survival Pearl

Survival Pearl

Originating in the Tennessee River, the Survival Pearl is one of the rarest, most famous pearls in the world.  Weighing about 90 carats, the Survival Pearl has an irregular shape that looks like a snail.  This is because it was formed around an actual snail parasite inside the mussel.

Survival Pearl

The name “Survival” was given to this pearl because it is believed to have grown inside the shell for 50-70 years! This freshwater pearl has a lavender-pink and bronze color and is considered baroque style.  This color and size pearl is very valuable and it is what makes this pearl so famous.

It is owned by the American Pearl Company of Camden, Tennessee and was part of "The Allure of Pearls" Exhibit in 2005.
