The Mancini Pearls are two, almost identical, pearl drop earrings that weigh about 100 carats each. They are both set into beautiful, diamond studded pendants. One of the earrings is almost a perfect drop shape, while the other is slightly distorted. They are white pearls with a very slight pink shade to them and are said to be about 400 years old.

These earrings once belonged to Marie Mancini who was the niece of a chief minister of France. Marie had an affectionate relationship with King Louis XIV, which was stopped by her uncle. During the time of their relationship however, it is believed that King Louis XIV gave these earrings to her as a gift. Although not certain, these earrings could have once been owned by the Medici Family of Florence and brought to France.

After Marie Mancini’s death in 1715, it is not known where the pearls traveled to or who they were given to. However, in 1979 the earrings resurfaced and were sold at an auction at Christie’s in New York for $253,000.
