Gogibus Pearl

Gogibus Pearl

The Gogibus Pearl originated in the West Indies and was founded by a Spanish merchant, Gogibus and bought by Philip IV in 1620. The pear-shaped pearl is 126 carats and is a white, saltwater pearl. It is said to have been worn as a decoration on a cap.

There is not much known about the dimensions or luster of this pearl because the whereabouts are uncertain.  It is believed to have stayed within the royal family in a personal collection.  However, in 2010 a pearl extremely similar to the Gogibus Pearl, resurfaced.

Many of the same qualities are shared between this new pearl and the mysterious Gogibus Pearl, putting a value of $3 million on the pearl.
