The Black Beauty Pearl is said to have originated in South America, possibly in Venezuela or Ecuador. These two countries are known as historic pearl fishing grounds in this region. It is a button shaped, black pearl that weighs 6.5 carats. It contains a mix of many vibrant colors including hues of purple, green, and yellow.

Pearls such as this one are the most desired black pearls. Because of the Black Beauty’s extraordinary characteristics, it is believed to be the finest natural black pearl ever seen and the most valuable.
The Black Beauty Pearl is currently owned by the American Pearl Company of Camden, Tennessee, which was founded by John Latendresse in 1961. It was also part of “The Allure of Pearls” Exhibition at the Smithsonian Institute in 2005.
