Summertime is the perfect time for that fun getaway. Whether you are visiting family or friends – or going somewhere exotic like Bora Bora – we know you pearl lovers will want to be able to wear your pearls.

Pearls are the perfect summertime accessory for daytime or evening looks.

Every pearl lover knows their pearls need gentle TLC for best care. But sometimes when we travel, we can get so excited about where we are going or what we are doing that we can forget to take gentle care of our pearls. Its important to still care well for your pearls. They will thank you for that extra moment you take with a longer life and more beautiful pearls.

Here are some of our favorite pearls on the go tips for traveling with your pearls. Enjoy your summertime getaway – and always remember to pack your favorite pearls!

Pearls need to be kept in a soft cloth as they may become scratched by things with harder surfaces. Remember how you keep them in a special jewelry box or place in your jewelry box away from other jewelry? You’ll want to keep them away from other items in your suitcase or travel case that could scratch them. Try wrapping them gently in a soft cloth and then packing them in a harder, protective case.

An easy way to travel with your pearls is simply to wear them as you travel. But if you do this, you’ll still need a way to store them for the days you choose not to wear your pearls – or if you are traveling to different places (like on a European city tour).

It’s easy for pearl lovers to remember that pearls need to be restrung typically once a year so they remain beautiful and the necklace or jewelry’s strand is strong. Can’t remember when your pearls were last restrung? That’s a sign they probably need to be looked at by your favorite jeweler to see if they need restringing. Getting them restrung before your vacation is an extra chore to add to the list – but who wants to lose their pearls on vacation?

Many travelers prefer to put their valuables in the hotel safe while on vacation. This can be an ideal choice for your favorite pearls – and it is one less thing to worry about. Remember your pearls need to be in a cool, dry place so ask the climate conditions of the safe. Also ask the hours of availability of the hotel safe so you can retrieve your favorite pearl jewelry to wear for an evening event easily as you would like it.
