Throughout history, pearls have always been known to show
wealth, royalty, and power. It was
almost unheard of for a commoner to own any sort of pearl jewelry. This is because unlike any other gemstone, a
pearl is a natural gift and is beautiful without any human interaction. A pearl does not need to be cut or polished. It has innate luster and splendor.
Pearls have always been cherished by royalty from Julius
Caesar, various Kings and Queens in Europe, to American icons such as Audrey
Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy. It was
not until fairly recently that pearls became a common piece of jewelry.
Pearls are now frequently seen everywhere, however they are still viewed as a classy and elegant addition to any outfit. Even though we still see them on Royal crowns, such as the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara which was worn by Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, they are also worn by ordinary people in the form of necklaces, pendants, earrings and bracelets. A pearl can be worn with fancy and casual outfits and can be worn at any time of day.
An example of pearls complimenting any style is on the TV show, Desperate Housewives. Bree Van De Kamp is a typical woman who is always shown wearing a pearl necklace for every occasion. She adds it to an evening gown, a casual sweater, and even while playing tennis. Even though this is just a television show, it is common in real life and just further shows that pearls are a great addition to anybody’s jewelry collection.
So whether you are the Queen of England, a famous celebrity or just an ordinary woman, the natural beauty of a pearl will suite you just fine.
