In the winter we bundle up in our big coats. Spring arrives and we put away all of the heavy outfits and get out our light jackets. As summer arrives we switch to sleeveless tops, shorts, and skirts. Fall has us quickly hunting for our jackets and coats, once again. During all of these seasons there is one style of jewelry which endures; the pearl necklace.
Think about your winter wardrobe for a moment. You probably have a dark coat, maybe in black or navy blue. Picture in your mind how a pearl necklace would look peeking out from under those dark heavy colors. The pearls add a glow to the outfit which is often missing on those cloudy, dreary, and frigid days of winter.
Imagine as spring arrives and you switch to lighter clothes and start adding brighter colors to your wardrobe. Those same pearls will look fabulous when worn with a colorful Easter dress or other spring attire.
During the blistering hot days of summer jewelry might be the last thing on your mind. You are looking to wear lighter clothes. Take a moment to envision a strand of cool smooth pearls around your neck while you are wearing a comfortable cotton top and airy summer skirt. The pearls add glamour and elegance to the outfit without feeling hot or restricted.
As the seasons start flowing back into fall and the cool wet weather starts forcing us back into our darker colors and heavier outfits it is comforting to know the pearl jewelry is going to still look great as we start heading out to school events, restaurants, and fall celebrations. Very few other accessories or pieces of jewelry are as flexible to wear with your seasonal outfits as a strand of pearls.
You will need to choose what type of statement you wish to make through the year. Will you go for the small elegant Japanese Akoya pearls or for the much larger South Sea pearls? The best advice might be to have a couple strings of pearls to fit your moods. At least with pearls you know they will be practical year round.
