In
modern times, a woman is the first thing that strikes a person when pearls are
mentioned. But it is seen that a lot of men wore pearl jewelry in history and
there are still some people who think that pearls can be for men too. Though
these people are quite uncommon, there are men who wear pearls as a necklace or
in some other form. When pearls were first introduced they represented power,
nobility and honor and this thought has changed ever since. Today it has become
nothing but a mere fashion statement.

Olden times saw kings using pearls in their crowns instead of using them in necklaces. This proves that even men had a lot of interest in pearls. There were kings, such as the king of Dholpur, who wore a pearl necklace just to show their love for pearls in fashion. The crowns that kings wore represented the honesty and the power they possessed. They provided a great sense of pride when worn.
Pearls were not only seen in the western countries however. Even in the east there were kings that used pearls in their crowns and this clearly indicates the interest men had in pearls. Therefore, men today should not consider pearls as jewelry only for women, as they are nothing but a gemstone that has beauty beyond imagination.
The main colors that men prefer when looking for pearls in fashion are the ones that are black and as a result the black pearls tend to make some profits in this accord. There are many other colors that are preferred such as purple, green and many similar dark colors. The only thing that is to be noted is that these dark colored pearls are often costly and are very rare and difficult to create.
