Princess Diana Wedding

Millions around the world watched the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in the 1980’s. Lady Diana’s wedding dress was that of a fairytale bride – it was an ivory silk taffeta gown with a 25 foot train.

According to The Daily News, pearl lovers will be thrilled to know that her wedding dress had 10,000 pearls and sequins carefully sewn into it. This wedding dress was designed by Elizabeth Emanuel.

As Lady Diana became Princess Diana and the “People’s Princess” – countless women fell in love with her wedding dress. As they got married they wanted that fairytale courtship and the wedding dress that Princess Diana had worn. Many designers were inspired to create wedding dresses that reminded us of this lovely dress. Pearl lovers will smile, remembering many brides wearing dresses with pearls in them.

Now that Kate Middleton will marry Prince William in April, the world watches as she chooses her wedding dress. The wedding dress will probably be a traditional and classic style as Middleton seems to prefer these types of fashions in daily and dressier outfits. The British bridal fashion expert Peta Hunt stated in the Daily Mail she thought Middleton would select a hand embroidered wedding dress with lace.

Some may be hoping that Middleton selects from two of Princess Diana’s favorite UK designers, Bruce Oldfield and Phillipa Lepley. Other possible designers experts think Middleton could be considering might be Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta.

Everyone adored Princess Diana in her pearl covered dress. It will be interesting to see what dress Kate Middleton selects as her wedding date in April 2011 comes closer.
