The
name “Grace Kelly” is synonymous with great style and taste. Many of us
can remember seeing Grace Kelly wearing her lovely pearls and feminine
fashions, as she became a Hollywood star, and then Monaco royalty.
According to Stylist.com, the Victoria & Albert Museum opened Grace Kelly: Style Icon, a very fashionable exhibit on April 17th. This is a unique opportunity to see Grace Kelly’s stunning wardrobe and accessories from the 1950’s through the 1970’s.
Grace Kelly is especially known for the white gloves and pearls she wore. That classic and very feminine style. Often wearing a chiffon or satin dress, she always looked lovely. This collection of one-of-a-kind Grace Kelly fashions will astound you.
The
section “The Actress” focuses on what Grace Kelly wore as she appeared
in popular movies including “To Catch a Thief” and “Rear Window.” “The
Bride” section shares the very start of her courtship with Prince Rainer
in 1955 and then their stunning wedding that the world watched. Yes,
Grace Kelly fans; this collection does include one of her wedding
dresses, the one from the civil ceremony. The church wedding dress it
was decided was too delicate to travel.
A third section “The Princess” celebrates her international style as Monaco royalty. Enjoy European couture fashions including Christian Dior, Yves St. Laurent and Chanel.
This is simply an exhibit that can’t be missed! It is sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, the very same jeweler who designed the engagement gift that Prince Rainer gave to Grace Kelly. The engagement gift was a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace. What woman could resist a lovely pearl necklace?
