It was a sight to behold: the Emirates
Palace in Abu Dhabi created a Christmas tree their
guests were sure to remember for years to come. According to AOLNews.com, the
43-foot tall faux Christmas tree was generously decorated with pearls,
diamonds, emeralds and other luxuriant jewels.
The hotel’s general manager Hans Olbertz stated it was the “most expensive Christmas tree ever.” The Emirates Palace hoped to top the 2002 record held by a Tokyo Christmas tree decorated that cost $10.8 million.
The tree was beautiful and certainly a one of a kind. We know that pearl lovers must have been amazed, to see all of those beautiful pearls on such a large tree – surrounded by other lovely gems! What a unique idea to decorate a Christmas tree with precious gems and pearls. It is certainly not something you see everyday.
The Emirates Palace states they were only the location for this opulent tree, they did not commission it. But do remember that this lovely hotel is the very same one that has vending machines you can get gold from! They are known for over-the-top, wonderful luxuries you simply won’t find everywhere else.
Wishing you a very Happy Holiday season!
