Sotheby’s Australia held a jewelry auction on June 28th that featured some beautiful pearls. According to DiamondWorld.net, the entire lot of jewelry was estimated between 2,212,500 to 2,870,500.

The stunning jewelry came from Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Kalis, Autore and Paspaley and watches from Rolex and Cartier.

The lot included more than half a dozen stunning pearl necklaces. In this lot of pearl necklaces was a lovely South Sea pearl necklace with twenty-nine pearls in the 15 to 17 mm size. The value of this necklace was estimated at $13,500 to 15,500. Australia is known to produce top South Sea pearls so it is no surprise this lovely necklace would come up for auction.

This June 28th auction included other jewelry items in a wide variety. There were Art Deco pieces such as a 1930’s diamond brooch and a natural pearl Jabot pin that was inspired by classic French jewelry. That Jabot pin was estimated in value at $2,000 to 3,000.

A few beautiful watches were available at the auction, including a Cartier watch and a Patek Phillipe watch. The Cartier watch was from the 1930’s and valued at $8,000 – 12,000. The Patek Philippe watch was from 1956 and valued at $20,000 to 30,000.

A stunning pair of diamond earrings was up for auction. They were valued between $150,000 to 180,000. These diamond earrings had 16.27 carats with the supporting diamonds having 3,50 carats. They were mounted in platinum with white 18 ct gold.

Colored stones were also available at this auction. Especially noted was a tanzanite and diamond ring, valued at $7,000 to 10,000. Also available was a colored diamond necklace that had a sash motif valued at $50,000 to 60,000.

Estate collections or period jewelry you may not have experienced otherwise will be seen at an auction. If you are a pearl lover (as all of us are) don’t miss attending a pearl jewelry auction if you have the chance. You’ll see beautiful pearl jewelry, meet others who love pearls as much as you do – and you never know – you could go home with some beautiful pearl jewelry of your very own!
