Pearl Jewelry History Photo Exhibit Honoring the GCC in Bahrain
Pearl lovers will be
pleased to know that a photo exhibit is now open through April 25th at
the Moda Mall in Bahrain to honor GCC and their pearl trade. According
to business24-7.com, the photo exhibit portrays Jacques Cartier visiting
the Gulf to discover more about GCC’s pearls in 1911.
Cartier visited the Gulf with Maurice Richard, his sales assistant to find the world’s best pearls. He visited several different places along the Gulf. They started in Muscat, then went to Bahrain and then onto Dubai. In Bahrain, Cartier met with sheiks and pearl experts to find lovely pearls. This visit helped to create some of Cartier’s most wonderful pearl jewelry.
The pearl jewelry created includes tiaras created for Princess Marie Bonaparte of France, Queen Maria of Romania and Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain. Photographs depict these royal women wearing their stunning crowns featuring pearls and diamonds in platinum setting.
This photograph exhibit is a unique opportunity for any pearl lover to not only discover more about Cartier’s history but to learn about pearls as they have touched International history. A number of the pieces made are for royalty, including necklaces for Maharajas of Patiala Bhupindar Singh. Cartier made the Maharaja a ceremonial necklace with matching pendant earrings. They included pearls and rubies, a very eye-catching look ideal for royalty.
