JCK Online has released the results of their annual color survey.  The results are very interesting to say the least and a great glimpse into the current fashion trends for jewelry.  Read below to find out more information.

April 5, 2010 - Story by Cynthia Sliwa - The April 2010 issue of In-Style magazine, its annual color issue, features the results of a readers’ poll that contain a couple of interesting nuggets of information relative to color preferences in jewelry.

Readers were asked what is their favorite color of gemstone from among three choices. A whopping 62 percent of those polled chose “greens and blues, such as emeralds and sapphires,” as their favorite. 22 percent chose “reds and purples, including rubies and amethysts.” 16 percent chose “yellows and oranges, like [canary] diamonds and topaz.”

Readers were also asked which metallic tone they like wearing best. The possible choices, silver, bronze and gold, finished neck-in-neck, with silver receiving a slight edge, at 37 percent. Bronze received 32 percent of the votes and gold 31 percent.

However, please note that these metallic choices are illustrated with garments rather than jewelry in the poll results. If one eliminated bronze from the choices, it would be interesting to see how “silver” and “gold” or more appropriately, “white metal” and “yellow metal” fare in comparison with each other. Since rose gold has only recently gained popularity again, I expect it would significantly trail the other two choices.

I was surprised by the poll results. Do these poll results track with your customers’ preferences? Are you finding that your customers have a preference for white metals over yellow gold?

As for me, if asked to choose my color preferences, I’d have to say “I can’t choose — I love them all”
