Cultured Pearl Association of America Announces New Board
At the recent Jewelers of America New York Summer Show, the Cultured Pearl Association of America honored outgoing president Sonny Sethi, CEO of Tara and Sons, New York, and elected a new board. JCK Staff -- JCK Online, August 7, 2009
The new president-elect for the Cultured Pearl Association of America is Fran Mastoloni, Mastoloni Pearls. Other newly elected officers are: vice president, Peter Bazar, president of Imperial Pearl; treasurer, Aziz Basalely, president of Eliko Pearl; secretary, Hidehiro Matsui, president of Matsui Pearl.

The Cultured Pearl Association of America is a nonprofit group founded in 1957 and is composed of manufacturers, wholesalers, dealers, and suppliers of cultured pearls in the United States.

The new products, consistent quality, and broader marketing programs in turn led major designers and retailers in the United States and Europe to take a much greater interest in cultured pearls. During this period, consumer interest has expanded from the traditional small and medium white round Japanese akoya cultured pearl to the larger South Sea and Tahitian goods, as well as numerous previously "undesirable" shapes and colors.
